The Gin Trap Inn

Branding and website for a 17th century pub & hotel in Norfolk.

Reviving a local favourite

The Gin Trap Inn is a seventeenth century pub & hotel tucked away in the wilds of North Norfolk. In its original context a gin trap is actually a nasty mechanical device used to capture wild animals and the original pub had some of these contraptions hanging from the walls.

The new owner was obviously keen to distance the pub away from animal cruelty and reinvent the establishment in a more relaxing light and establish itself as an authority on the juniper drink and a place where you can sample from hundreds of different kinds of Gins.

Taking this as our lead we developed a logotype that references some of the early inscriptional style typefaces that appear on some of the original Gin labels from Holland & Belgium. To keep things flexible we provided a suite of different lockups for the logo so that it can be used in a variety of different situations.
